*Hey Battlefield,*
* Can you believe it's November? The semester is more than half way done!
I hope everything is going well with your clubs and with classes because it
is tough to juggle both. If you get a chance I would love a calendar of
events so I can schedule some time to visit again and bring some other clubs
with me.*
**
*Break down of my memo:*
*1) Dues*
*2) CKI hours*
*3) District Project*
*4) International Fundraising Initiative*
*5) Awards*
*6) District Committees*
*7) Club visits*
*8) District Events*
*9) District Goals*
**
*1) Early Bird Dues deadline has passed. Today, November 1, was the postmark
date. That just means that Kiwanis International must receive your dues
byDecember 1. If you have any questions about navigating the Membership
Update Center please let me know. I'll be more than happy to help. *
*2) Are you recording your hours correctly? CKI wants to keep track of the
number of service hours that CKI is doing. One (1) CKI hour is 60 minutes of
service done with your CKI club or hosted by CKI. Hours count if you promote
the event to the club and you were the only one who attended. Don't forget
to include travel and planning time!*
*a) If the event is service only, entire travel time counts.*
*b) If the event is service AND social, half the travel time counts.*
*3) As part of our District Goal, each club should execute two service
projects dedicated to MARK - Making the Arts a Reality for Kids. This can be
as simple as holding an art supply drive and doing a song an dance with some
kids or as complicated as holding an Art Fair. If you need help coming up
with ideas let me know.*
*4) Our fundraising initiative is Six Cents Saves a Life where we are
raising money for UNICEF. This money goes to Africa to provide clean,
drinkable water. So far we've received a good amount of money from Razoo
Speed Granting. Our International Representative Kristen Reed has
volunteered to have her hair cut by the club/district that raises the most
money.*
*5) Start getting ready for club awards!. Applications are at
www.cdcki.organd are due at the end of January. If you don't apply,
you won't get
recognized and I know Battlefield is working hard.*
*6) Interested in participating at the District level? We still have
Committe Chairs available and we are accepting Committee members for
Conferences and Conventions and Service. I've attached the Service
application at the bottom. For Conferences and Conventions see Tanya
Sperling at *
tanyasari at gmail.com
*7) I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Mount Saint Mary's University
in Emmitsburg, MD. The campus was gorgeous and the officers were so nice. I
HIGHLY recommend that you visit your divisional counterparts: Bowie State
University, University of Maryland and Mount Saint Mary's University. We can
all learn a lot from each other.*
*8) SAVE THE DATE! District Convention February 15-17 2008 in Fairfax, VA.
If you are interested in going, I recommend that you think about fundraisers
soon. *
*9) District Goals*
*1. **Have thirty-four (34) chartered clubs in good standing with a total of
1,100 members by March 31, 2008.*
*2. To perform a minimum of thirty (30) CKI service hours per member in
every chartered club by March 31, 2008. *
*3. To have each chartered club plan and execute at least two (2) projects
directly related to the district project by March 31, 2008. *
*4. To have every chartered club host at least one (1) CKI-to-CKI interclub
by March 31, 2008.*
*5. **To reach the following percentages of attendance at district events by
chartered clubs: *
**
*2007 Fall Training Rally – 70% *
*2008 District Convention – 80% *
*2008 Spring Officer Training Conference – 70% *
*Have a great month of NOVEMBER! *
