Greetings from the District!
**
*Divisional Event - Sarah's House*
* *The Divisional Event was a huge success. The food was great
(provided by Kiwanis) and the games were fun. We had the University of
Maryland come as well as Division 14 Key Club. Special guests were 2007-2008
Governor Sneha Bhat and Past Governor Monica Price.
**
*FTR recap*
* *FTR in Appomattox, VA occurred two weeks ago on October 5-7. We
had beautiful warm weather, some fun challenges, and informative workshops.
If I haven't visited your club yet, I will be bringing you copies of the
Resource CD. Take a scan at them because you may find something useful.
We also had International visitors (no not from outer space).
Kaitlin McCann, International Vice President; Kristen Reed, International
Representative, and Sarah Smith, Capital District Key Club Governor attended
our FTR. With their help and the help of all the clubs that attended, we
raised over $1000 toward the San Francisco de Opalaca Library in Honduras.

*San Francisco de Opalaca Library in Honduras - District Fundraising
Initiative*
* *Last year, the District Board aimed to put together an anthology of
service stories written by children. This year we are selling those books
and those proceeds go to help build a library in Honduras. We are also
working on maybe sending some CKIers to Honduras and working on the library
sometime in May. So if you have little sisters, brothers, nieces, or
nephews between the age of 5 - 18 years and would like to be published in
the book, it's not too late! I've attached entry forms and order forms. So
go promote the anthology to friends, families and Kiwanians (they are
definitely going to help out).

*MARK - Making the Arts a Reality for Kids*
* *Just a reminder that MARK is our District Project and as part of our
District Goal, we would like to see each club execute 2 projects towards
MARK. This could be as simple as collecting art supplies and donating it to
a school or children's hospital or as complicated as putting on an arts
fair. Let me know if you want any help on this because I would love to help.

*Club Visits*
* *I had the pleasure of visiting with Bowie State CKI. They have been
really active and are planning to attend the Breast Cancer Walk in DC on
Sunday, October 21, 2007. I was also able to participate in their Behind
Closed Door Session, which allowed members to ask personal questions that
were discussed among the group. I really recommend as club officers and
members to visit each other and share ideas about CKI and service projects.
Next time I visit a club I'll send out a message to see if anyone wants to
come with me.
My next visit is to Mount Saint Mary's University on Tuesday October 23,
2007 at 5 PM. Contact me if you would like to come snguyenm at gmail.com

*Committees*
* *Want to be involved on the District Level? Apply to be on a
committee! Currently open chairs - Club Building and Revitalization, Laws
Regulations and Awards, Membership Development and Education, Kiwanis Family
and Sister-District Relations, and Technology! Accepting committee

apply for club awards, scholarships, and attend our District Convention.

**
