Hello Battlefield!!
It's Brian, your Lieutenant Governor for 2008-2009. I hope everyone is
well!! Just a couple things I wanted to broadcast for the division. If
anyone has anything they'd like to let everyone know, please let me
know!! Thank
you!
A couple events have occurred over the last few weeks:
*Spring Officers Training Conference (SOTC)* on March 29th went well! A lot
of information was distributed and received, so if you were not present, you
can download the information
HERE<http://www.cdcki.org/member_resources/documents.htm>.
Also, I am trying to work on setting up a separate training session for
anyone who did not attend so that every officer has the appropriate
training. J
For everyone that attended the Saturday's *Sub-region F event "Lost in DC"*,
as well as the subsequent Relay for Life at GWU, thank you. I hope everyone
made friends with some new people outside of Capital district as well as had
a blast!!
Bowie State University had their Charter Brunch this past Saturday with
their sponsoring Kiwanis Club of Mitchellville. The event was a great way
to mark the start of the new officers' terms, but also to get to know their
Kiwanis Club better. Hopefully everyone who attended had a great time!
Now for a couple *upcoming* events:
*Strike Out ALS* is this coming Saturday at the College of William & Mary.
*PLEASE!! PLEASE!! PLEASE!!* If you have not done so already,
*VOTE<http://apps.facebook.com/speedgranting/proposal.php?pid=641&ref=NjQxfDMxNTAyMDQ2>
* for it on Razoo on Facebook. This takes only a few seconds! It's a
process called "Speed Granting" and works like this: whatever cause/event
has the most votes at the end of the voting period gets a $1000 grant just
like that. It's a great way to support CKI and a great cause! *Voting ends
TONIGHT at 11:59 PM. PLEASE VOTE for it!* Thanks!
*LSSP & ICON* are August 2nd-6th and 6th-9th, respectively. If you are
interested, need to register, or want more information, go
*here<http://www.cdcki.org/events/ICON_main.htm>
*. Our awesome OTIC chair Sneha Bhat has arranged to get us great packaged
deals! I know cost may seem extremely high to some, and so I encourage
clubs to fundraise as much as they can in the coming weeks and to *try using
the "thirds" system*:
One third of the cost provided by your club/school
One third to be fundraised/provided by your personal self,
One third can be requested from your sponsoring Kiwanis club.
Both LSSP and ICON are great experiences, and I promise anyone who goes that
it will be something you never forget!
Also, check out the *Battlefield Divisional
Website<http://www.battlefield.cdcki.org/>
* (which is still under heavy construction) for any additional events! And
check back often—I wasn't kidding when I said it was under construction! J
Thanks again everyone!
