*Hello Battlefield!!  *

* *

*It's Brian, your Lieutenant Governor for 2008-2009. I hope everyone is
well and gearing up to the end of the semester! Just a couple things I
wanted to broadcast for the division. *

*1. **Please, please, please, if you're interested, join one of the
district committees. The committees are: *

*1.      **Club Building & Revitalization <cbr at cdcki.org> – Helps to
maintain positive growth in the district by building new or existing clubs,
and revitalizing those that need it*

* *

*2.      **Conventions & Conferences <con-con at cdcki.org> – Responsible for
planning and running conferences such as FTR and conventions like District
Convention*

* *

*3.      **Kiwanis Family & Sister District Relations <kfamily at cdcki.org> –
Contacts and involves other K-family branches, such as Kiwanis and Key Club,
etc, as well as our sister district*

* *

*4.      **Laws, Regulations, & Awards <lra at cdcki.org> – Keeps district
bylaws up to date, *

* *

*5.      **Membership Development & Education <mde at cdcki.org> – Provides
members with information, benefits, and opportunities for development and
how awesome it is to be part of the K-family*

* *

*6.      **On-to-International Convention <otic at cdcki.org> – Sets up
packages and spreads the word about International Convention*

* *

*7. **Service <service at cdcki.org> – Plans out and oversees the district
project*

* *

*8.      **Technology <technology at cdcki.org> – Maintains the district
website*

*2. **I updated the divisional website to reflect some upcoming events!
Please check it out here: *http://www.battlefield.cdcki.org/* Click on
Events on the left-hand side. Please let me know if you have any events or
suggestions!! *

* *

*3.      **The 2008-2009 District Goals: *

* *

*1. **To obtain a minimum of a 5% increase in membership of
the April 1st 2008 numbers by March 31, 2009.  *

* *

*2. **To obtain an average of 30 CKI service hours per
member from April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009. *

* *

*3. **To build a playground in the Capital District by
March 31, 2009 as part of a campaign to promote the 2008-9 District
Project—"Shaping Up": A focus on Health & Physical Fitness Awareness. *

* *

*4. **The District Project is "Shaping Up": A Focus on Health &
Physical Fitness Awareness. This project encompasses a wide variety of
activities, including field days and awareness seminars/workshops, and will
also result in the construction of a playground somewhere in the Capital
District!! If you're interested in helping make this happen, I encourage
you to join the service committee! Contact our district service chair Cal
Burton at *service at cdcki.org*. *

* *

*5. **For those who didn't receive it, I attached a CKI benefits form.
So this form asks you to list places that you, as a CKI member, would like
to see some kind of benefit from (which is on the second page). For
example, I, as a lover of Starbucks, would like maybe a 5-10% discount on
every purchase for being a CKI member. So I'd fill in that information on
the back. Or maybe for every 10 purchases, I get one free. Please fill out
this form and return it to *ckimdb at gmail.com*. Don't worry about the date.
*

* *

*6. **Thank you to everyone who participated in Strike Out ALS by
either attending or voting for it on Razoo. They did win the **$1000 speed
granting award, and so this was a very successful event! *

* *

*7. **LSSP & ICON** **are August 2nd-6th and 6th-9th, respectively. If
you are interested, need to register, or want more information, go
*here<http://www.cdcki.org/events/ICON_main.htm>
*. Our awesome OTIC chair Sneha Bhat has arranged to get us great packaged
deals! I know cost may seem extremely high to some, and so I encourage
clubs to fundraise as much as they can in the coming weeks and to try using
the "thirds" system:  *

* *

*One third of the cost provided by your club/school.*

*One third to be fundraised/provided by your personal self. *

*One third can be requested from your sponsoring Kiwanis club. *

* *

*Both LSSP and ICON are great experiences, and I promise anyone who goes
that it will be something you never forget! *

* *

*Thanks again everyone!! If you have any comments or suggestions, please
let me know!*

* *

*Yours, *

*Brian*
