[CDCKI Business] District Convention 2008: An Odyssey of Service!

Hey Capital District!
*Have you registered for the 2008 Capital District CKI Convention yet?*

Capital District Convention 2008 will be held the weekend of February 15-17,
2008, in Fairfax, VA, at the Hyatt Fair Lakes! It's going to be an Odyssey
of Service, and a fun-filled event which you just don't want to miss :)

The Early Registration deadline is just a couple of weeks away. You can
register by CLICKING HERE <http://www.cdcki.org/events/DCON_reg.htm> and
filling out your registration information.

Early registration is $90 per attendee until midnight on December 31, 2007.
Regular Registration is $100 per attendee between January 1st and January
24, 2008.
Late registrations received after Jan 24th and on-site will be $110 per
person.

District Convention is a chance for you to catch up with old friends, make
new ones, get service ideas from CKI clubs from across the Capital District,
elect your 2008-09 District Board, participate in a district-wide service
project, attend fun and educational workshops, enjoy general sessions and
the Ancient-Greek theme for convention, and to just have an all around great
time!


************* GOING TO DCON? HERE'S SOME FUN STUFF TO KEEP IN
MIND!!*****************

This DCON is going to be filled with all kinds of fun events for YOU to get
involved in, including the *CKI Talent Showcase* and the *Oratorical
Competition*! If you're planning to go to DCON, these contests are
definitely something to consider!

*CKI TALENT SHOWCASE *- CKI Clubs and individual members will be permitted
to audition for the CKI Talent Showcase. Acts are limited to 5 minutes in
length. Auditions will take place on the Saturday afternoon of DCON. This
is not a competition, but a panel of judges WILL select several acts to
perform during the Presidents' Banquet on Saturday night!! Check out the

*ORATORICAL COMPETITION *- CKI members will be able to prepare an oration to
perform before a panel of judges on the Saturday afternoon of DCON. First,
Second and Third Place awards will be presented to top orators, and the
first place winner be asked to give their oration at the Presidents' Banquet
on Saturday night. The topic for the oration is provided on the entry form,

Also, don't forget to APPLY FOR CLUB AWARDS and CKI SCHOLARSHIPS! Most of
the awards are due to Administrator Jeffrey Wolff by Friday, January 18th
(received by date!), as are the applications for the *Society of
Distinguished Collegians* and the *Service Recognition Award*. If you are
interested in applying for a CKI Scholarship, check out the *CKI Scholarship
Booklet*. Please read the directions and due-dates for each application
carefully to avoid disqualification! All of these applications can be found
