[District Board] Greetings Capital District & Governor's Newsletter

Greetings Capital CRABS!

For those of you who do not yet know me, my name is Sneha Bhat, and I have
the distinct honor of serving you as your 2007-2008 Capital District
Governor! I am really excited for this year, and I have lots of ideas and
plans to help lead the Capital District into a direction of positive growth.
I hope that all of you are just as excited as I am about all the wonderful
opportunities for service, leadership, and fellowship that are yet to come
:-)

Just a little bit about myself: I am a junior at Mary Baldwin College, which
is located in Staunton, VA, in the Presidential Division of CDCKI. I am
majoring in biochemistry and minoring in studio-art. After graduating in May
of 2008, I hope to go on to medical school and eventually get into the field
of neurosurgery. I love to eat just about anything (but especially
chocolate!), and some of my favorite TV shows include Grey's Anatomy,
Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, and Family Guy. I also used to be a
competitive swimmer, and I still love watching the summer Olympics.

As the District Governor, I would really like to get to know each of you
CRABS and each of your clubs even better. If you ever want to contact me
with questions, comments, concerns, ideas, or even just to talk, please feel
free to do so! My contact information is listed at the bottom of this
e-mail, and don't ever hesitate to use it ;-)

*NEWSLETTER #1 - GOVERNOR'S GAB*
In this e-mail, I also included my first newsletter. I encourage you *all* to
take a look at it as it contains some important information for everyone
this year. Here are just a few things that the newsletter covers:

*COMMITTEE/COMMITTEE CHAIR UPDATES*
Also, Committee Chair applications are still being accepted for the
following positions: *Conferences and Conventions Committee Chair,
Kiwanis-Family and Sister District Relations Committee Chair, Laws,
Regulations, and Awards Committee Chair, Service Committee Chair, and
Technology Committee Chair *. As soon as we find enthusiastic individuals
who are willing to serve in these positions, we can start finding CDCKI'ers
who are interested in serving as members of these committees. Please let me
know if you want more information on any of these chair positions and/or if
you (or someone you know) would like an application. The deadline for chair
applications has been extended to *MONDAY, APRIL 23, 2007*! Remember, you
CAN be a club officer and a District Committee Chair simultaneously if you
are interested. Let me know if you have any questions.

Congratulations to our Club Building & Revitalization Committee Chair, *Brinton
Howerton* of the George Washington University CKI Club. If you are
interested in serving on the Club Building & Revitalization Committee of if
you would like more information on what the committee entails, you can
contact Brinton (cbr at cdcki.org) or myself for more information!

Also, the Capital District introduces a new ad-hoc District Anthology
Committee which will be chaired by *Anh Nguyen* of the CKI Club of the
University of Mary Washington. This committee will be responsible for
finishing the anthology project started by the 2006-2007 Capital District
Board so that it can be compiled and published by International Convention
2007! If you want more information on the goings-on on this committee or if
you would like to be involved, please let me know! Be on the lookout for
more information/updates on committee activities in the near future :-)
