Hey District Board Members!

Here are some IMPORTANT reminders for you...It's long, but please read it.

1) www.*GoodSearch.com* <http://www.GoodSearch.com> - Thank you to all of
you who have been promoting this to your clubs, but if you have not done so
already, please inform everyone of this (and start using it yourself too!).
It's just like Google except that every time you search for something, they
will donate 1 cent to CKI (just make sure you enter *Circle K International
Headquarters (Indianapolis, IN)* in the "Who do you GoodSearch for?" tab.
Then be sure to use GoodSearch as your search engine every time you have a
valid search. Although $0.01 doesn't sound like a lot, every search counts,
and when we add them all up and spread the word to everyone we know, we
can raise a LOT of money for the organization.

2) *GOAL SHEETS *- Again, thank you to all of you who have already turned
these in! I know that those of you who are still missing yours are both
working on them, but just don't forget that the deadline to get them in is *May
15th*. Please send them to gbidgood at kiwanis.org and CC
governorsneha at gmail.com and jeffrey at wolff.net.

3) *INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION *- Have you been promoting ICON to your clubs
yet? If not, please do!! If you have been promoting it, could you please *give
me an estimate for each club in your division* *and the names of ANY
interested people* (even if they're not sure yet). It is really important
that we get at least two attendees from as many clubs as possible so that
our district has full representation at Convention this year. This means
that you have to be really persistent and good with marketing International
Convention to ALL of your clubs. If you need help, please feel free to
contact myself and/or OTIC Chair Anh Nguyen. Also, if any of your clubs'
members are not attending due strictly to financial reasons, remind them of
all their fundraising options**, inform them about talking to Kiwanis/their
SGA about financial assistance, and let them know about the new district
travel package options (I'll send you all the details for the travel
packages in a separate e-mail the next couple of days).

**With regard to fundraising for ICON, in addition to all the traditional
local/campus fundraisers that members can try, OTIC Chair Anh Nguyen is
planning to hold at least one car wash fundraiser this summer so that anyone
who is attending ICON but needs financial help can come out, and then a
portion of the profits will go to help subsidize their costs. This will
probably be up in the Northern VA area, but if any of you are going to be in
the district this summer and are interested in helping chair a fundraiser in
another area of the district, please let me know. I know a few of you
already said that you would be willing to help out during phone chats, so if
you are still interested, please e-mail Anh (otic at cdcki.org) to remind her
that you are willing to help out :-)

4) *CONTACT INFORMATION* - Lieutenant Governors: If you have not turned in
any of your clubs' contact information yet, please get this done ASAP! The
following clubs have contact information which was never sent to
International (gbidgood at cdcki.org):

   - Liberty University*
   - Lynchburg College*
   - Randolph-Macon Women's College
   - American University*
   - Marymount University*
   - Virginia Wesleyan College*
   - Old Dominion University*

All the clubs above with the * means that the information should be sent to
Sam, Milan, Jeff, and myself as well. I know that some of these clubs
haven't elected officers yet and/or have submitted their information but it
just never got forwarded to International, but just make sure that something
is submitted for EVERY club by *May 15th* so that you don't get penalized
for that later.

5) *REFLECTORS!* - Please make sure that you are utilizing your reflectors,
and please don't forget to add me (governorsneha at gmail.com) on to them if
you haven't already b/c I like reading your newsletters/memos too! One
really good idea with this is if you want to go ahead and take the
membership rosters from all your clubs and add everyone's e-mails to the
reflector. That way the information gets to everyone and you don't have some
of the info stopping at the officer level. Then, if club members don't want
to receive your e-mails, they can always unsubscribe themselves. This is
just an idea though, so depending on how you want to utilize
your reflectors, it's up to you, but just make sure that either way, you are
encouraging all of the members of your reflector to utilize it by sending
out their club's information/events to other clubs in your division!

Also, remind all your club officers that they should be on their respective
district club officer reflectors (meaning presidents at cdcki.org, vp at cdcki.org,
etc.) and that they can use those for announcements/event promotion as well.
Finally, don't forget to remind all your clubs' members that anyone who is
interested can also subscribe to the CDCKI Business and CKI Business and
Social reflectors as well if they are interested.

*DON'T FORGET TO REMIND ANYONE ATTENDING (OR INTERESTED IN ATTENDING) ICON
and/or LSSP to SUBSCRIBE TO THE CrabsInPortland* *REFLECTOR!* You just need
to *e-mail **CrabsInPortland-subscribe at googlegroups.com*<CrabsInPortland-subscribe at googlegroups.com>
to
subscribe! I would like for all of you to do so if you have not already, and
encourage all of your Club Presidents to do so as well (regardless of
whether they are attending or not), and then also promote this to ANYONE who
is thinking about attending ICON/LSSP and wants more information on them.

6) *KEY CLUB RELATIONS* - I have been talking to Key Club Governor Sarah
Smith, and in order to better increase the relations between Key Club and
CKI this year, we are creating a "board buddies" between our two District
Boards (yay!!). Obviously, since there are way more of them then there are
of us, the easiest way to do this was to create buddies based on your actual
Key Club counterparts. This means that most of us will have multiple Key
Club buddies, and since there is some overlap, this is the official
breakdown:

CKI Governor - KC Governor
CKI Secretary-Treasurer - KC Secretary, KC Treasurer
CKI Editor - KC Editor
CKI Battlefield - KC Divisions 1,9, 14, 17
CKI Foothills - KC Divisions 2A, 18, 24
CKI Metro - KC Divisions 1, 20C, 22
CKI Presidential - 4A, 4B, 5A, 5B
CKI Ridgeline - 10A, 10B, 20A, 20B
CKI Susquehanna (this'll be me until we find someone) - 11A (previously Div
11), 11B (previously Div 7), 12, 15
CKI Tidewater-64 - KC Divisions 13, 16, 21, 23
CKI Valley - KC Divisions 2B, 3, 8

*I will forward all of you the 2007-08 Key Club Board's official roster as
soon as I get this from Sarah.* *(They are still updating it since they are
holding some LTG elections right now for vacant positions.)*

Also, just so you all are informed, the first thing we are planning for you
all to do with your Board Buddy(ies) is a little Commonalities Contest
where, sometime in the next week or so, Sarah and I will send out a
questionnaire with a couple of activities for you to complete with each of
your buddies. Then, the pair with the highest score will get a *special TOP
SECRET prize*! Yes, since some of you have multiple buddies, this means you
will have to do this multiple times BUT this also means you will increase
your chances of winning ;-) Hopefully, this activity will allow you to get
to know your Key Club Counterparts a little better, and you will have fun
with the "forced bonding".

Please don't forget about phone chats next week! I know that some of you
have finals coming up in the next couple of weeks, so if you really need to
study and/or have a final during our chat time, please let me know so that
we can reschedule/postpone our chat :-)

Let me know if you have questions!

Thanks,

Sneha
