[District Board] Kiwanis District Convention

Hey D-Board!

As we mentioned at the ICON Board Meeting, this year the Capital
District Kiwanis Convention will be held at the Hilton
Hotel<http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/IADMRHF-Hilton-Washington-DC-Rockville-Executive-Meeting-Center-Maryland/index.do?brand_id=HI&brand_directory=/en/hi/&xch=5510019,3XNVV2FFRA0JWCSGBI1MVCQKIYFC5UUC>in
Rockville, MD, this coming weekend (August 17-19)! You can find the
full
agenda here http://www.kiwaniscapdcon.com/agenda.html, but if you can't make
it for the whole weekend, many of the important events (including our
workshop!) will be on Saturday if you want to just come for that day.

Members of Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs (this includes all CKI
members) as well as children under the age of 18 will be admitted to the
conference at no charge, so you will not have to pay registration to
attend. Meals are on your own though. There will also be a hotel room
available for any board members who want to attend and need a place to stay
on Friday and Saturday night.

*Please let me know ASAP if you plan on attending! *We need as many CKI
members as possible to help with the CKI workshop, the display booth, the
ornament fundraiser, and (as Jeff mentioned during the board meeting) this
is also a great chance to get started on raising money for YOP!

So that you all know, the workshop is regarding "The Reality of CKI" and it
is described in the program as follows: *Today's youth are tomorrow's
leaders, which is why it is important to stay involved with Sponsored
Leadership Programs such as Circle K International (CKI). If you want to
know more about Circle K International and what is going on in the Capital
District of CKI, then this workshop is for you! Come join several
enthusiastic Capital District CKI leaders for information on forming and
maintaining a strong relationship with your CKI clubs, how to sponsor a
club, and how to get involved in planning projects and events with local CKI
members.  *We'll run through a brief PowerPoint, in which I included bullet
points on the above topics as well as CKI and CDCKI basics and information
on our district anthology project, and then hopefully in the remaining time
(and depending on how many Kiwanians attend our workshop) we can plan for
a Q&A session or a round-group discussion time. If any of you have any other
ideas for the workshop, please let me know!

already informed me, please let me know soon!* I will send you more
information on the workshop breakdown, and you can help with the display
board as well ;)
