Hey International Convention Attendees!

I hope that your summer breaks are going well, and that you are getting
excited about ICON coming up soon!!

*PLEASE READ THIS E-MAIL AND LOOK AT ALL THE LINKS AND ATTACHMENTS! *I'm
sorry that the e-mail is long, but this is a lot of important info to make
sure you have an AWESOME ICON experience :)

*The following is attached to this e-mail: *

   - *THE DELEGATE FORM*
   - *helpful PARLI PRO info to get you ready for House of Delegates *
   - *information on WHAT TO WEAR to all the ICON sessions*

I'll send out that booklet with all the Capital District CKI cheers soon, so
keep an eye out for that as well!! Also, I'll be forwarding any
literature/letters from CKI Candidates for International Office in another
e-mail :)

*DELEGATE FORMS*
First of all, please make sure that you have a completed Delegate Form
filled out and signed by the time you arrive in Portland. Each club
attending will need to have a delegate form completed which has the
information for both delegates on it (unless you are only sending one person
from your club to ICON, in which case your club will only have one
delegate), and that form must be *signed by a 2007-2008 Club Officer OTHER
than the delegates listed*. Remember, you will need to bring this completed
form with you to ICON or you will NOT be able to serve as a delegate (which
would be very unfortunate since House of Delegates is a large part of the
ICON experience). So, don't forget to bring this delegate form with you!! If
you already have filled out your form and mailed it to International by July
10th, please still bring a copy of that form with you to Convention (just in
case). The form was in one of Anh's earlier e-mails, and it is attached to
this e-mail as well.

If you are a District Board member or an Immediate-Past LTG and are not
serving as a delegate for your home club (which would be if you have a
minimum of two other people attending from your club), please help our
district maximize delegates by voting for another club in your division that
is not sending at least two people to ICON. You must get that club's
President/VP to sign your form and mail it back to you so that you can bring
it with you to ICON. If you have any questions about Delegate Forms, or if
you are a D-Board Member/Immediate Past LTG who is still not sure which club
you are voting for, please let me know ASAP!!!

*HOUSE OF DELEGATES*
So what actually goes on in this House of Delegates?!! Well, with all the
amendments, and amendments to amendments, etc. it helps to know what to
expect in HOD before getting there. That's why the following 2007
Educational Piece is a great resource. It has basic information on "How to
Be an Informed Delegate" as well as the information on what is currently
going on for CKI finances, Districts, Standing Committees, I-Board
Composition, and the proposed changes to all of these areas.

You can access the educational piece here:
http://www.circlek.org/lit/download.asp?id=605
.

The document with info on the actual 2007 proposed amendments can be found
here: http://www.circlek.org/lit/download.asp?id=596.

Please let me know if you have any questions at all regarding these
amendments. We will do a brief run-through of this at some point during
Convention, so that you understand what is going on and what you will be
voting on, but it is always a HUGE help if you have read through everything
beforehand.

*TRAVEL INFO*
If you have not registered for transportation through the district tour
package and have not sent your flight/transportation information (i.e. when
are you arriving and when will you be leaving Portland) to OTIC Chair Anh (
otic at cdcki.org) and me, please do so ASAP! Remember, for many of you, your
hotel is booked starting on Saturday, August 4th, so if you are arriving
early, you will need to make sure that you book your room for Friday night
as well.

*THEMES AND PARTIES!!*
With all the craziness, we can't forget the different themes and chances we
have to dress up at ICON! Here is some information for those of you who like
to go all out with the costuming.

*CAUCUS ROOM THEME* - for the second Caucus session, in the spirit of all
that's going on with CKI structuring and HOD this year, we will be dressing
up in *CONSTRUCTION theme *style (we've decided on building construction if
some of you differentiate between that and road construction). This means
you can dress up in jeans, white t-shirts/wife beaters,
sneakers/construction boot things, construction/neon colored vests if you
have or can find any, etc. We will also try to bring some plastic hard hats
for people to wear as well. If you have any questions, let me know!

*Service Fair - *This year for the CKI service fair, we will be dressing up
in different cultures. Capital District is going to be representing the *ASIAN
CULTURES*, so that means you have a lot to choose from. You can dress up in
traditional Asian clothing (you have a lot of options here and India and any
Pacific Island cultures are included in the Asian category!), or if you
don't have any traditional kind of Asian clothes, you can just be creative
with it and add a little Americanized Asian flair to your clothing ;) We
also will be setting up our booths with Asian games and activities to help
make it interesting, so if you have any fun Asian games which relate to our
district project (Children in the Arts), please let us know!

*Block Parties* - So the block parties are a little crazy this year...
they've been changed to only one per night, meaning around 15 districts are
working together to plan each one. The first night's block party will be a
GLOW party/dance. There should be a DJ/dance as well as glow
sticks, bracelets, etc. They have also asked everyone to *bring a plain
white t-shirt* with you since they will have highlighters and everyone can
write on each other's shirts for a best decorated shirt competition ;) The
other night's block party is not quite set yet, but I will give you details
as soon as it's decided on.

*AWARDS!*
Don't forget to bring any of your CKI club's AWARD APPLICATIONS for the
2006-07 year with you to ICON! Club Award Applications are due on-site at
convention. A*wards are due 6pm on Saturday, August 4th.* Please make sure
you read the directions for any awards you are applying for carefully! If
you need any help completing them or if you have any questions, please let
me know.

That's it for now, but please read over the attachments, check out the
links, and stay on the lookout for any additional e-mails! Let me know if
you have any questions.

I look forward to seeing all of you in PORTLAND!!

Sneha
