Just to make sure you have gotten this e-mail from Governor Sneha
because it is very important!!
Also it says that breakfast will not be provided by DCON itself, so I
will be providing breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings in my room.
Your Metro LTG,
Deirdre
-->
Hey Capital District CKI Convention Attendee!
I hope that you are as excited as I am about *DISTRICT CONVENTION* which
is coming up this weekend!
Please take a second to read over this e-mail, as it should contain all
the information to prepare you for an amazing DCON experience :) It's a
bit long, but it has a lot of important things which will ensure that
you are prepared for this weekend and have everything you need. If Club
Presidents or a representative from each club could please make sure
that all your club's attendees get the appropriate information contained
in this e-mail, that would be great!
First of all, you will find the following documents attached to this e-mail
* DCON Packing List
* What to Wear: the Session Attire Guide
* Tentative Weekend Schedule
There are also a few other things to keep in mind...
_*HOUSE OF DELEGATES*_
All clubs in good standing will be able to seat up to TWO dues-paid
members of their club in the 2008 CDCKI House of Delegates in order to
represent their club and vote on important issues, ranging from electing
the 2008-09 District Board to amendments to the CDCKI Bylaws, etc.
However, in order to make sure that your club can seat its two
delegates, please make sure that your club has paid its dues for at
least 20 members (or 15 if your institution has less than 1,000
students) and has *COMPLETELY filled out the following **DELEGATE
CERTIFICATION FORM*
<http://www.cdcki.org/events/dcon/2008%20Delegate%20Certification%20Form.pdf>.
The Delegate Certification Form (found on the DCON page of the CDCKI web
site) must have ALL appropriate signatures from your CKI Club President
and your Kiwanis Advisor in order to ensure that you can seat delegates
in the House this DCON.
/Also, if for some reason your club has not paid its dues for the full
20 (or 15) members yet, and you have collected dues from the membership
by DCON but have not had a chance to send them to International yet,
please DO NOT send them in to International (they will not be processed
in time if you do that), but instead just bring the check and roster
with you to DCON so that we can verify that you have collected the
appropriate amount of dues. If you have already sent in the appropriate
amount of dues, but they have not been processed, please bring proof of
your submission (proof of payment, invoice, and a membership roster). /
_*BRING SOME EXTRA CASH!!*_
Not only will you have the opportunity to check out the CKI Convention
Store, but we will also have a few fun activites and fundraisers which
you definitely want to be a part of!
* *THE ANTHOLOGY IS READY!* That's right!! Now you can help make our
library in Honduras a reality! CDCKI is partnering with Students
Helping Honduras to create the first public library in the San
Francisco de Opalaca region of Honduras, and for *only $15, you
can purchase and take home your very own copy of /Helping Hands:
An Anthology of Children's Stories,/* which is the/* */book that
is helping make this dream a reality! You can also bring spare
some change to purchase really AWESOME bookmarks to go with your
anthology as well. *100% of the profits will go to building this
library!*
* You can also participate in a* CKI* *T-SHIRT QUILT RAFFLE* to win
a one-of-a-kind quilt created with tons of CKI shirts from around
our district! It's a great addtion to any CKI member's collection,
and it's only $3 for one ticket or $5 for two :) All profits
raised from this raffle will be donated to the *CKI Tomorrow Fund*.
* *The Six Cents Initiative* is a great way to help children around
the world get the oral rehydrating salts they need to allow them
to survive severe dehydration spells. By participating in the
*PENNY WAR* competitions this weekend, you can help us raise money
for the CKI Six Cents Initiative! /*JUST SIX CENTS CAN SAVE A
CHILD'S LIFE!*/
*_RUNNING FOR DISTRICT OFFICE_*
IT'S NOT TOO LATE! If you are attending DCON, and you want to take the
next step to get more involved with the Capital District of CKI, you can
still run for a position on the 2008-2009 Capital District CKI Board. If
you are interested, please *check out the Candidacy Packet found HERE

<http://www.cdcki.org/events/dcon/2008%20Candidacy%20Packet.pdf>for all
the details on what the positions are and what responsibilities they
entail. You will need to have the form found in this packet filled out
and ready for submission (with appropriate signatures and enrollment
verification) by the Friday night of Convention. Please let me know if
you have /any /questions about running for a position :)
_*GOT TALENT?*_
If you can sing, dance, play an instrument, or just have talent that
you can't wait to show of to your fellow Capital CRABS, then DCON just
might be your chance! All you have to do is audition for the *2008 DCON
Talent Showcase*, and if your act is one of the several ones chosen, you
can perform for all your friends at the President's Banquet that
Saturday night. *You can get more information **HERE*

_*A FEW MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW!*_
* /*You will NOT be receiving breakfast on either Saturday or Sunday
morning of District Convention.*/ Please plan on bringing either
some extra cash or granola bars, etc. with you if you don't want
to miss breakfast on either day! Lt. Governors may have plans to
provide breakfast for their divisions, or individuals may be
willing to drive people to the nearby Starbucks, etc., but your
Lt. Governor will let you know ahead of time if this is the case.
There is also a small shop in the hotel itself which sells bagels,
muffins, etc.
* CKI members, please make sure that you fill out a MEDICAL FORM
<http://www.cdcki.org/events/dcon/2008%20Medical%20Information%20Form.pdf> and
a CODE OF CONDUCT
