DISTRICT CONVENTION : An Odyssey Of Service*
*
When?* Friday-Sunday, February 15-17, 2008

*Where?* Hyatt Fair Lakes Fairfax, Virginia

* How do I register? *The only way to register this year is online at:

*How much is this going to cost me?* Registration for the event is $90/per
person; your registration fee covers your convention souvenir, workshop
materials, and two meals (lunch and dinner on Saturday of Convention). Hotel
is $89/per room/per night + taxes (the maximum capacity per room is 4
people). Your total cost for convention comes to a grand total of  $139
(based on 4 person room occupancy) for a weekend at the luxurious Hyatt
Hotel.
*When should I register by?* *Early Registration is due by December 31st* to
lock in your $90 rate. After this date Regular Registration is $100 by
January 24th. Any registrations received after the 24th will be $110,
including on-site registration.

* PLEASE NOTE:* You are able to pay your registration fee on-site but if you
register you are responsible for your registration pricing. In other words,
you are committing to attending convention, finding a member of your club to
go in your place if you cannot attend, or simply paying your registration
fee. *Registration refunds will be accepted in WRITING up until January 24,
2008 only.*

* How do I book my hotel room? * All convention attendees are responsible
for making their own reservations directly with the hotel by calling (703)
818-1234. A block of rooms listed as "Capital District Circle K Convention"
has been reserved at a rate of $89.00/night + applicable taxes *until
January 24th, 2008*. Room availability and rates cannot be guaranteed after
this date so please book your rooms early!

*What's in store at this year's convention you ask? Well take a look! *

*THEMED SESSIONS*
Get ready to celebrate at District Convention Greek-style with our theme
this year: An Odyssey of Service! This is a theme that is sure to provide a
weekend of excitement as we celebrate yet another year of service to our
communities. On Friday night at opening session feel free to come dressed in
your best toga with the finest ivy and/or accessories or sport your clubs
t-shirt and show your club pride! Prizes will be given to the best toga of
the evening! Also, prepared to be amazed by a magic show that will have you
on the edge of your seat ready for more!

*MEMORIES THAT LAST A LIFETIME
*Remember that one time you were at Inductions, that amazing service
project, or meeting and that amazing picture was taken of you or your
friends? Now is the time to share those moments with Capital District at the
year in review slide show created by the Audio/Visual Sub-Committee, Melissa
Kong! Submit your best club pictures to Melissa Kong at the DCON 2008 e-mail
address, Capital.DCON at gmail.com by December 22nd. Please submit pictures
from DCON 2007 to the PRESENT. You can submit as many pictures you would
like and/or video files you have.

Also, we are looking for volunteers to either help take photos and/or
videos throughout the DCON event this year in order to make a closing
session slideshow. You do not need to be a professional, however, we are
looking for good quality work. If you're interested and/or know anyone who
would be, please email me *before December 16th* along with samples of your
work.

*FELLOWSHIP*
As if those themed sessions weren't enough you will have the opportunity to
meet 200 other Circle K members from clubs throughout Virginia , Maryland,
Delaware and D.C.! At District Convention you will be able to form long
lasting friendships with others who have the same passion about service as
you do!

*AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIPS*
District Convention is a time to award and honor the individuals and clubs
that have helped make this year AMAZING! Never think that you or your club
can't win an award. You've worked so hard all year...you deserve it!  There
are TONS of club awards that your club or individuals can apply for! Check

This year's convention will be packed with some exciting workshops!
Everything from educational to flat out entertaining workshops are here for
you! Do you want to be a workshop presenter? Or do you have an idea for
workshops? If you do be sure to contact District Convention Workshops Chair

*SERVICE FAIR*
We all *LOVE* service so make sure you come and check out the 7th annual
service fair at DCON 2008! Learn about what service other clubs in the
district are performing, get new ideas for your club, find out how you can
work with your Kiwanis Family counterparts, and much more! All clubs are
encouraged to bring a display board of their clubs featured project to the
service fair. For more information please contact Service Chair Jennifer

*ELECTIONS*
Your club will choose the Capital District's future leaders as we elect the
2008-2009 district board of officers! If you are thinking about running for
