Hey Capital District!

If you have not registered for *District Convention 2008* yet, there is
still time!! You definitely want to register soon though because we have a
ton of *fun *and *exciting* events planned which will make this an amazing
weekend for everyone regardless of your level of involvement in CKI!

District Convention this year will be a ancient-Greek themed *Odyssey of
Service*, and you definitely don't want to miss it :) It will be the weekend
of *February 15-17, 2008 *at the *Hyatt Fair
Lakes<http://fairlakes.hyatt.com/groupbooking/fairlcapk2008>in
Fairfax, VA
*.

The regular registration deadline is *midnight of this coming* *Thursday,
January 24th*, and registration is $100 till then. Registrations received
after this time will be $110 per attendee. You will need to register online
at the CDCKI web site ( CLICK HERE TO
REGISTER<http://www.cdcki.org/events/DCON_reg.htm>
!).

So why should you register?? Here are just ten of the many reasons to be at
DCON 08:

10) *President's Banquet and Ball!* Celebrate with the rest of the districts
as we present awards and recognition to CKI members and clubs who have
worked hard this year! We will also have a Talent Showcase featuring your
fellow Capital CRABS (or yourself!) as well as an amazing dance following
the Banquet!

9) *Workshops that you will ENJOY!* Informative, but not boring like all the
lecture classes you sleep through...those are the types of workshops you
will see at DCON 2008! From information about Six Cents and UNICEF to
Working with Key Club and even a session on How to Recruit Guys to CKI, you
will really enjoy what's in store this year!

8)* Amazing Meals during Sessions :)* Food is always important, and this
year we will be offering a Kiwanis-Family Session Lunch! We also have a
Presidents' Banquet dinner that will be just delicious...dessert and salad
included!!

7) *DISTRICT SERVICE PROJECT and even more opportunities for service!! *Get
involved and make an impact as we create ICU care bags and wall decorations
for patients at the UVA Children's Hospital and the King's Daughter's
Hospital on Saturday during the Service Project. We will also have smaller
projects available Friday evening for you to work on while
socializing/meeting people from around the district.

6)* See the Anthology and the District Fundraising Initiative in
Action!*Support us as we raise $10,000 to build the first ever library
in the San
Francisco de Opalaca region of Honduras! We will have anthologies at
Convention for you to see and buy as well as bookmarks and the opportunity
to see it in action!

5) *Meet your International Representative, Kristen Reed, in person!* Been
receiving tons of e-mails and really cute newsletters through the
Sub-Regional reflector? Then I'm sure you're interested to meet the fun and
exciting person (if you haven't already met her at FTR) behind these e-mails
;) Kristen will be at our District Convention, so take this chance to talk
to her, listen to what's really going on Internationally in our
organization, and attend one of her amazing workshops which she's planning
for us! (P.S. If you're not on the Sub-Region reflector and want to be, just
shoot me an e-mail and let me know!)

4) *Win a T-Shirt Quilt, Play Penny Wars, or even Pie a District
Officer!*There will be many contests and competitions going on this
weekend...
including a quilt made of CKI t-shirts which will be raffled off at an
amazing price, the chance to play Capital District Penny Wars, and you can
even watch/participate in a contest for clubs who turned in all their MRFs
to get a chance to pie the District Board Member of your choice!

3) *MAGIC! MAGIC! MAGIC!* Opening Session entertainment this year is going
to be honored magician Michael Taggert. Watch as he performs all kinds of
crazy magic acts and even volunteer to be performed on! :)

2) *Elect the 2008-2009 District Board of Officers!* Don't you want to have
a say in who your Lt. Governor, Secretary-Treasurer, Editor, and Governor
will be for the upcoming CDCKI administrative year? Come to DCON and
participate in the House of Delegates or attend the many caucus sessions
(open to non-delegates as well) and get involved!

1) It's DCON! That means that it's the perfect opportunity *to meet Capital
CRABS from around the District and make memories that will last a lifetime!!
*
Still have questions? Need more reasons as to why you should register for
DCON? Let me know if you have any questions or want more information!! Time
is running out...so register for District Convention 2008: An Odyssey of
