Greetings CDCKI Club Presidents,

In an effort to ensure that you are informed on what's going on in the
district, I would like to give you a heads up on some things that are going
on.  I will periodically update you on current district happenings, and ways
that you and your clubs can pitch in to ensure success in the Capital
District this year.  So enjoy this Governor's Post.

Sister Club Pairings

In an effort to give you and your board members someone to talk to about the
everyday workings of your jobs, I have decided to assign each club in the
district a sister club for the year.  These pairings were made based on
various similarities of clubs throughout the district.  Some pairings are
made to help those clubs who are starting out with clubs that have been
established for some time or know what it's like to be going through the
start up process.  Clubs with traditions of high membership numbers might be
paired with clubs who have a goal to grow.  Those clubs who have a large
committee structure have been paired with those who seek a structure like
that in their club.  I encourage you to speak with your sister club
counterpart and encourage your boards to do the same.  Please reference the
district directory for contact information.  The sister club pairing list is
attached.

Total K Day 2006

This year's Total K Day is shaping up to be a great event!  Registration
will be closing tonight at 11:59 p.m. and can be found online at
www.cdcki.org/totalkday.htm  The event will bring together all the branches
of the Kiwanis Family for a day of service and fellowship, with proceeds
benefiting both the Key Club and CKI District Projects.  More information
can be found at the registration website.  DON"T MISS OUT!

District Awards Information

As mentioned at Fall Training Rally, there are many district awards that
often are not applied for by members.  CKI hands out various awards and
scholarships each year that many members qualify for but might not even know
it.  Two awards, the Society of Distinguished Collegians and the Service
Recognition Award were two awards that received very low applications last
year.  The SDC award is a society established within CKI which honors
achievement of members scholastically and in the realm of service.  A 3.0
GPA is the minimum for this award and a service hour requirement also
applies.  The SRA is a recognition of a members service totals as a CKI
member.  Those of these applications are due before District Convention so
make sure to get those applications in.  Clubs received these awards on
their Resource CD at FTR, but the forms will be made available on the
website soon.

Club Events

Make sure to keep Capital up to date on your upcoming club events!  We can
add these events to the online calendar or Capital Courier (contact Editor
Meredith Wessels at editor at cdcki.org) or they can be sent out over the
district reflectors.  I would like to come to as many of these events as
possible, so please contact me as soon as you can in advance at
